LowChron Live: Beloved Family Respite In Dangers of Closing
It’s rare for a business to make as quick of an impact on a community as we’ve seen with youth ball pit and fun center Jumpin’ Jellybeans.
Owner Tanyelle Cole and her staff focused from Day One on giving families that needed break in the daily grind of raising their little ones.
The business, located in Tanger 1 in Bluffton, attracted a social media buzz right out of the gates thanks to the attentiveness and friendliness of Cole and her crew and the pristine cleanliness of the location.
For now, sadly, there is no more jumpin’, as Cole closed down the location on Jan. 27 after receiving an eviction notice from Tanger officials on Jan. 23. Tanger acted on a lease clause that allowed the next-door neighbor, high-end home goods retailer Serena & Lily, to take over the space by offering to pay more money for the location.
The closure is particularly heartbreaking for the Lowcountry Autism Foundation, who had found a partner for their Parents Night Out events, where they gave kids on the spectrum a chance to socialize while their parents got a much-needed breather from the 24-7 care they are used to giving their kids.
Cole and LAF Beaufort County Coordinator Sophia Townes joined Lowcountry Chronicle to discuss how this happened and what’s next.
After the interview was conducted, Cole posted an update, which included some optimism that Jumpin’ Jellybeans may continue in a new Bluffton location.
